Hailey watched, as Angela and her son, exit the staff room and then she took her mobile phone out of her draw, within the staff room. For a few seconds, Hailey thought about giving Chan a text message, lying to him that she already broken up with Sam, but then dismissed that idea. Hailey told Chan the same lie ten years ago, during the first time, when Chan decided that he no longer want to have anything to do with her. Chan has already decided that he can’t trust her during that time, but decided to take her words for it, for one last time, since it would not have any negative effects on him, anyway. But once Chan found out that Hailey lied to him, he cut it clean with her again. Hailey thought it was just a short phase that would pass, but it isn’t, then Hailey tried telling Chan the same lie again, but this time he didn’t bought and kept her at arm’s length and just like that, ten years passed. When Hailey came knocking on Chan’s door, ten years later, she once again told him that, she finally left Sam, but need a place to crash, until she find a place of her on, he didn’t want to believe her at first, but then decided that after ten years, maybe she come to her senses and let her crash at his guest room, until she find her own apartment, but once he found out it was a lie, he decided he want to cut it clean with her again and if it wasn’t because Chan’s partner Emma, happens to be a girl that she went to high school with, Chan would have kick her out already.
Hailey wasn’t completely lying about wanting to leave Sam, she tried on more than one occasion, but she couldn’t, she finds it difficult to leave him. She felt confused, because once she leaves Sam, she would no longer have a man, she would no longer be in a relationship, where his partner would tell her that she is beautiful, tell her that she is special, paying attention to her and sweep her off her feet, romantically. Hailey believe this is what true love is supposed to be like, what true happiness is supposed to be like. She got all of these ideas, from those fairytale story books that she read, since she was a little girl, before she even have a chance to develop her own idea, of what true love and true happiness is supposed to be She had an idea of what true love and true happiness is supposed to be, been install into her brain, by those fictional fairytale stories, which according to scholars, are stories that are only there to reinforce conservative ideology and has no regards to reality itself and she blindly spend the rest of her life, following this set of ideology that fairytales taught her, without questioning it. Hailey fear, if she leaves this relationship, she would lose the happily ever after, that should exist within the fairy tale and she would lose what she believes true love and true happiness is supposed to be like and she would never find a relationship, with these characteristics again.
Maybe a girl would better understand where Hailey was coming from, especially those, who also dream of becoming a fairytale princess and only to be slap in the face by disappointment, the same way Hailey has been. But Chan is neither a girl nor is he interest in anything romantic, when his mother use to tell him and his brothers and sister about romantic story, they would say “Mum romance are for losers, they are stupid, they are lame and they are boring and I rather watch paint dry then to listen to this, only looser talk about romance, because they want to disguise the fact they have no life, so for crying out loud, can you stop embarrassing us, by acting like a completely looser in front of our friends, please?” Then they started talking about Sci-Fi movies and Jackie Chan movies instead. Then after high school, when they become adults, in their twenties, they would be more direct and say “Mum romance is for lame and wimpy losers, porn is cool. You see, you can actually see people doing it in porn, where romance on the other hand. Honestly, who cares!!! It is just dinner, candle light dinner is still just dinner, two additional candles make no difference, it isn’t fun, sex is fun, food is necessity, Jackie Chan movie is entertaining, comedy is a lot of fun, money is a necessity, romance is not a necessity and it not fun and it is very boring.” that pretty much got Chan and Tang’s mother, to stop talking about romance stories with her sons all together.
Hailey got onto the bus and paid the money. The bus was pretty empty, with only three other people sitting on it. Chan was on it. Hailey was a bit surprise to see Chan, but she knows his appearance, got nothing to do with her. Chan has no idea, which school does Hailey teaches in. Hailey smiled, she is happy to see Chan. Chan took a look at Hailey. He wasn’t expecting to see Hailey. Chan cannot be bother to pay any more attention to Hailey and continue to talk to his chief of staff Debra Green, over his cell phone, while looking at the relevant information, on his laptop.
“What about the private schools?” Chan asked
Hailey sat down on the chair, on the second last row of the bus, the same place she picks every time. Chan was still sitting on the last row. “Look, I don’t care what they say. Both the state and private sector, must meet these new criteria, set by the government. We can control the public sector, so make sure they act accordingly. We might have much lesser control, over the private sector. But it is still, our way or the high way for them. So, they better self-govern, to meet our criteria too. The government is not going to change its policy on this, disregards to what anybody say. Plus, it is all the doggy schools that has continuing bully problems or provides substandard education that is complaining. The schools got a responsibility to their students and I am intending to make sure schools, live up to that responsibility and that is final.” Chan said
A few minutes later, Chan hang up his phone, he still can’t be bothered to pay any attention to Hailey. Chan put his stuff into his suitcase and started to look out the window. For some reason, his action was making Hailey giggle, she has been like that, pretty much ever since they first met, ten years ago, nobody ever understands why.
Twenty minutes later, Chan got off the bus. Standing at the bus stop, was his brother Tang, waiting for him. Tang had another girl within his arm, she was a girl that he managed to pick up just ten minutes ago, she is a skinny blond hair girl that was wearing a short yellow mini skirt with white spots and very tight white T shirt, Tang had one of his hands, grabbing onto her ass. A minute or two later, the bus started to drive off, with Hailey still on it.
