Chapter Ten Part 2 of 3

~During the exact same time at Sydney

Hailey walked into the staff room, of the school she teaches in. Inside the stuff room, upon her desk, was a dozen roses. The roses are from Sam, he had been sending her a dozen roses every day, for the past three and a half weeks, where he cannot, come to meet Hailey, in Sydney.

Hailey smelled the roses, it was great.

Hailey decided that she made the right choice, sacrificing her friendship with Emma and Chan and choose to stay with Sam, instead.

After all, if Hailey choose to leave Sam that day, would he still send her roses like today? No, all of these romantic gestures would have ended and she would no longer have a man, in her life, Hailey believe the important of having a man in her life and believe that even having an abusive man, is better than having no man.

Hailey still get bashed up by Sam. She got bashed up once, three weeks ago and just like always, when she escapes from the house and went to the hospital, to get the stitches, she told the doctors that she fell down the stairs. However, unlike before, Hailey can no longer goes to Chan or Emma for help, to escape from her problems. Chan already seized, wanting to have anything to do with Hailey, since ages ago and after what happened at the hospital parking lot, two and half months ago, Hailey finally anger Emma enough that she no longer wants to have anything to do with Hailey, either.

Chan and Emma were no longer people that Hailey can turn to, in the face of her problems with Sam and she doesn’t feel comfortable turning to others either. The only reason that Hailey would choose to turn to Chan and Emma, was because she felt comfortable with Chan and she trust him, on an intimate level. Hailey doesn’t want to talk about her problems with Sam, to anybody else, because she doesn’t trust them, on that same intimate level as she trusts Chan and if it isn’t because Emma is Chan’s partner and happens to live with Chan, Emma won’t know anything about her relationship problem with Sam, either. Fatima and Muhammad always present open arms, welcoming Hailey to turn to them, but Hailey never turn to them, due to the exact same reason, why she doesn’t turn to anybody other than Chan and Emma. Nobody really understands why Hailey trust Chan so much.

Angela came into the staff room. “You got another patch of flowers, from your husband?” Angela asked

Hailey smiled and nodded.

“That is so sweet. You are so lucky. How do you two manage to keep the romance so alive, even after all these years? For me and my husband, it is always, rush, rush, rush, mortgage, mortgage, mortgage, rushing the kids off to school and rushing to work. We don’t really have much time for romance.” Angela said

Hailey didn’t say anything. Angela doesn’t know that in reality, Sam live in the Gold Coast and only come down to Sydney, to meet Hailey once, every one or two weeks and that Sam is legally married to another woman, living in the Gold Coast, Hailey doesn’t want Angela to know about it.

“He always finds a way to surprise me.” Hailey smiled and said

“There is a card.” Angela said, as she noticed the card that came with the flower.

Hailey picked the card up “You are the most beautiful girl in the world” the card wrote.

“Oh, that is so sweet.” Angela said after reading the card “You are so lucky” Angela smiled and said

“You need any help, getting home today? It should be pretty inconvenient for you.” Angela said looking at Hailey’s broken leg “How did you break it anyway?” Angela asked

“I fell down the stairs.” Hailey lied. Sam threw her down the stairs, because Hailey didn’t have time, to make dinner for Sam and his poker buddies, three weeks ago.

“Are you sure you want to catch the bus? It doesn’t look very convenience for you, like that. I can drive, if you want to.” Angela said.

“No, it’s Ok.” Hailey said “Plus, I got a doctor appointment this afternoon.”

“I can take you to the doctor, if you like.” Angela said

“Nan, its Ok, I can go by myself.” Hailey said

“Why are you going to the doctor, are you sick?” Angela said

“I have been feeling sick for the past few days. I kept on throwing up.” Hailey said

“Well, you defiantly have to let me take you to the doctor then.” Angela said

“No, serious, I’ll be fine.” Hailey said

“Are you sure?” Angela asked

“Yeah” Hailey said, she took a look at her watch. It was almost four thirty, in the afternoon. “I better get going or I’ll be late.” Hailey said

“Ok” Angela replied. Angela grabbed her car keys and started getting prepared to leave “Come on kiddo, let’s go.” Angela said to her son, who was also a student, within the school and has been waiting for her mother, within the staff room, ever since school finished.
